Stacked bar charts are an excellent option for displaying ordinal data and for highlighting part-to-whole relationships, like the percentage of survey respondents who selected strongly agree, agree, disagree, or strongly disagree.
In this tutorial, I demonstrate how to highlight or select your data table and insert a brand new chart from scratch. I walk you through a few of Excel’s chart options, like a 2D Clustered Bar, Stacked Bar, and 100% Stacked Bar. I also teach you about Switch/Row Columns, an excellent strategy for quickly flipping your chart’s categories around if your initial chart comes out looking funny, and how to quickly change your chart’s color scheme.
